How The Helium Network Works
THE TECHNOLOGY
LongFi combines the LoRaWAN wireless protocol wit Helium blockchain so any LoRaWAN device can transfer data on the Helium Network. In laymans terms, it uses a radio frequency to detect and communicate with IoT devices.
Helium hubs create a mesh coverage of large areas, all working together to transfer and triangulate important IoT data.
WHAT IT DETECTS
Use cases include detecting lost items, finding pets, remote system monitoring of machinery, and many more business application usages.
WITNESSING
When a hub detects or receives a signal from an IoT device or sensor, it places the data packet on the network. It must be witnessed, or validated, before it can be placed on the Helium blockchain. Witnessing is a function that earns a hub rewards.
VALIDATING
After a hub witness's an IoT device or sensor, the information must be validated. A hub can also act as a validator ensuring the integrity of the network. Validating is a function that earns a hub rewards.
